There's nothing to add to this. 256MB is a purely marketing trick.
AGP x8/x4, 256MB DDR SDRAM in 8 Hynix chips. 4ns indicate 250 (500) MHz, but the memory operates at 200 (400) MHz usual for RADEON 9600. 128 bit bus.
On June 10, 2004 the latest drivers from ATI were 6.451 (CATALYST 4.6) for Windows XP.
