Launching of new combo drives does not attract so much attention any more as it used to do before. This time LG, keeping on fighting with Samsung, released a new combo drive able to burn CD-R media at 48x and rewrite Ultra Speed CD-RW at 24x. Frankly speaking, 48x CD-R writing is not that interesting because the record time doesn't fall down much. Operation with 24x CD-RW looks much more useful. The design of the new drive hardly differs from the previous model LG 4320 B. They actually differ only in the labels and in what's written on the tray. ![]() Now a bit more information on the drive received with some utilities. Additional information on the driveNero Info Tool![]() EAC Configuration Wizard![]() The installation was flawless. The procedure is standard, like that you go through with a usual CD-ROM drive. The drive requires no special drivers. I used the NeroBurning Rom ver 5.5.10 which perfectly recognized it. ![]() Possibility to make it multizone (RPC-1) The drive is RPC-2, and it's still impossible to make it RPC-1 according to www.firmware-flash.com/. Summary The worst downside of this model is a high noise level. In all other respects, this drive reminds its predecessor. A good speed, acceptable CD-R record quality and Ultra-Speed CD-RW support will let you write CD-RW media as fast as CD-R. The company again made a good office-type drive.
