Intel
D875PBZ Mainboard (i875P)
The
latest boards of this company look more attractive for an end-user due to good
BIOS adjustability (but not overclocking potential). Besides, here a 1Gbit network
controller is connected via a special CSA bus. We've tested a a preproduction
sample.
Accessories:
- Documentation: user manual in English;
-
CD containing:
- drivers;
- user guide in PDF;
-
DirectX 8.1;
- Adobe Acrobat Reader;
- some third-party
applications;
- Intel Active Monitor (system monitoring).
The board is not rich in functions, and the engineers had every chance to make
the layout ideal. The only downside is that memory modules are too close to each
other. It's not difficult to reach the only jumper when the board is already installed.
Its functions are shown on the textolite.
The 2-channel switching voltage
regulator incorporates 4 capacitors of 2200 uF and 10 of 1200 uF. Also, there
are voltage regulators for the AGP and memory buses.
Integrated controllers:
- network controller based on Intel 82547EI (Kenai II CSA), with 10BaseT/100BaseTX/1000BaseT
(Gigabit Ethernet) supported.
+5 V supplied in the StandBy mode
is indicated with an onboard LED.
Non-unsoldered connectors: audio codec
chip and its connectors.
System monitoring is supported by ICH5R (FW82801ER)
chip. It controls:
- processor voltage, +3.3, +5 and +12 V;
-
speed of 2 fans;
- temperatures of the processor (built-in sensor),
and the board (built-in sensor).
There are 2 connectors for adjustable
and 1 for unadjustable connection of fans.
Brief board's characteristics:
memory slots - 4 DDR SDRAM; expansion slots - AGP/ 5 PCI; I/O ports - 1 COM/ LPT/
2 PS/2/ 8 USB 2.0; dimensions - 305x245 mm.

We used the B01 and P05 BIOS versions.
The
board is an excellent choice for systems where only pure performance and stable
operation are required.
